WILCO at Interpack 2026
Linking primary packaging requirements with high-precision inspection
DÜSSELDORF, Germany – 07.05.2026
At Interpack 2026, WILCO AG is showcasing the direct connection between a product’s primary packaging and the high-precision methods used to ensure its integrity. Guided by the motto "Your primary packaging – our inspection precision," WILCO is shifting the focus from general quality assurance towards targeted technical solutions that address the specific challenges of each container type and application.
From laboratory development to high-speed production lines, WILCO's portfolio covers the full range of inspection needs – spanning Container Closure Integrity Testing (CCIT), Automated Visual Inspection (AVI), Headspace Analysis (HSA), Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) and combined modular solutions. Visitors to Hall 16, Booth D15 will have the opportunity to see these technologies and to engage directly with WILCO's R&D and engineering specialists.
Leak Detection
From Packaging Development to High-Speed Production
Container Closure Integrity Testing (CCIT) is a cornerstone of WILCO's offering. The company's leak detection portfolio covers the entire product lifecycle: From early-stage packaging development through to fully automated, high-speed production environments.
In the laboratory, WILCO's NEO series of compact instruments sets a benchmark for measurement accuracy, ease of use, and flexibility. The NEO DPX performs leak tests using up to three Differential Pressure technologies, while the NEO HSX ONE and NEO HSX DUO extend the platform into Headspace Analysis with up to two different lasers.
For production environments, WILCO offers automated CCIT systems tailored to a wide range of container types, including for example vials, syringes, ampoules, BFS (blow-fill-seal) containers, infusion bags, and blister packs. Core technologies include:
- Differential Pressure Testing for high-sensitivity leak detection
- Headspace Analysis (HSA) for non-destructive O2 and CO₂ measurement across glass and polymer containers
- Automated Media Fill Inspection for sterility assurance in aseptic filling processes
- Laboratory Bombing Chamber for accelerated air ingress and studies supporting packaging development
- Stopper Monitoring for real-time detection of stopper positioning anomalies during filling and transport.
- Inline NIRS (Near-Infrared Spectroscopy) for water activity determination in lyophilized products
WILCO's sensitivity range extends down to 0.01 μm -depending on the technology and packaging type – ensuring that even the smallest packaging defects are reliably identified before products reach patients.
Automated Visual Inspection
AI-supported Automated Visual Inspection (AVI) for difficult-to-inspect containers
In the area of automated visual inspection, WILCO is addressing the increasing complexity of modern drug delivery systems. Containers like auto-injectors, syringes, and vials made from opaque glass often prove difficult for standard vision systems to handle. By integrating neural networks, WILCO’s AVI systems now provide a more reliable way to identify defects in these complex formats. This allows for better results in both small-batch clinical production and high-speed filling lines.
Automated high-mix/low-volume solution
For those requiring specialized human-like inspection for high-value applications, WILCO is showcasing the EVO CAX. This automated solution is designed specifically for complex requirements, including clinical trials, small-batch products and the precise second stage inspection of previously ejected containers. Because of the specialized nature of these processes, the EVO CAX will be demonstrated exclusively for partners looking to address their most critical quality challenges.
Combining AVI and CCIT in a modular setup
Pharmaceutical manufacturers increasingly need to handle multiple inspection steps within a single line. Combining inspection tasks in one machine reduces floor space, minimizing handling between stations, and streamlining validation. WILCO's modular platform has been developed precisely to meet this need.
By engineering inspection technologies that can be freely combined within a shared mechanical and software framework, WILCO enables customers to configure systems around their actual process requirements rather than adapting their processes to fixed machine architectures. Differential pressure testing, automated visual inspection, headspace analysis, and NIR spectroscopy can be integrated as independent modules within a single compact system.
Technical exchange at the Inspection Lounge
Inspection technology is only as valuable as its correct application. Therefore, WILCO has set up an Inspection Lounge at Hall 16, Booth D15. Throughout the show, WILCO’s R&D and engineering experts will lead hourly short-form sessions. These are intended as a forum for technical discussion rather than standard presentations, allowing visitors to dig into the realities of regulatory compliance and production-floor challenges.
The daily program includes:
- 11:00 – Meeting regulatory requirements for packaging development: Inherent CCIT and Transport Studies in practice
- 12:00 – Mastering Blow-Fill-Seal Inspection of SVP Containers: 100% BFS Inspection with CCIT and AVI
- 13:00 – Automating Media Fill Inspection: From subjective checks to objective, efficient inspection
- 14:00 – Solving Visual Inspection Challenges in Difficult-to-Inspect Products: Advanced compliant inspection for DIP products and containers
- 15:00 – Holistic inspection of parenteral drugs in vials: Combining inspection technologies for large scale manufacturing
- 16:00 – Introducing a novel leak testing method: Accelerating gas ingress for integritiy testing from development to production
"We want to talk about the specific hurdles our customers face," says Christoph Herdtlitschka, Head of Product Management, Sales and Marketing at WILCO AG. "Every packing type has different integrity requirements. Our goal at Interpack is to sit down with visitors and look at their actual packaging and determine how our technology can provide the most reliable inspection."
