What is the inspection technology behind the EVO CAX?
The EVO CAX features a camera-based visual inspection system that is AI-ready, combining high-resolution imaging with advanced processing algorithms for precise and scalable performance. Its static optical path (OptiX™) ensures that lighting, optics, and cameras remain fixed, minimizing vibrations and ensuring consistent and high image quality for particle and cosmetic defect detection.
Find out more about OptiX™ here.
How does the vision algorithm work?
The vision algorithm processes high-speed image sequences to detect particles, cosmetic defects, and other anomalies. Using techniques such as image subtraction, particle tracking, and AI-based pattern recognition, the system can distinguish between true defects and product variations, reducing false rejects while maintaining high sensitivity.
Does the EVO CAX come with an AI-integration?
The EVO CAX is AI-ready. The EVO CAX utilizes conventional, rule-based algorithms, ensuring reliable and consistent defect detection. It also supports flexible integration for deep learning techniques for more complex inspection tasks - such as distinguishing bubbles from particles. When traditional algorithms do not achieve the required performance, neural networks can be deployed to enhance accuracy and adaptability. Additionally, the EVO CAX allows for the integration for custom AI models, giving users full transparency and control over the AI logic used in their inspection applications.
How is data storage handled by the machine?
The EVO CAX stores inspection data securely within an integrated database, ensuring compliance with 21 CFR Part 11 and EU GMP Annex 1. Data can be exported in various formats for quality assurance, regulatory reporting, and trend analysis.
What does human-inspired inspection mean?
The EVO CAX combines the precision of robotic systems with an award-winning, human-inspired approach to product handling. By reducing forceful movements and using gentle mechanical procedures, it eliminates the need for rapid product spinning , significantly reducing the creation of bubbles. This method protects product integrity while enhancing the overall quality of inspections, setting a new benchmark in pharmaceutical visual inspection.
What do you mean with high-mix/low-volume?
High-mix/low-volume refers to production environments with frequent product changes and smaller batch sizes. The EVO CAX is designed for flexibility, allowing manufacturers to inspect different container formats, drug types, and packaging variations without requiring extensive reconfiguration.
How would a recipe update occur?
Recipe updates can be performed online on the machine as well as on the offline PC via an intuitive user interface, where new product parameters, inspection criteria, and acceptance thresholds can be configured. Pre-engineered templates help streamline the process, and remote support is available for validation and optimization.
What range of vials can the EVO CAX handle?
The EVO CAX can handle a wide range of vial sizes, typically from 2 ml to 30 ml, depending on the inspection requirements. Custom configurations are available for liquid and lyo container types and sizes.
How much is the machine efficiency?
The machine efficiency is up to 98%, reflecting high operational availability and efficiency under typical production conditions. This supports minimal downtime and maximum throughput.
What sizes is the EVO CAX?
The EVO CAX is available in compact design to fit space-constrained cleanroom environments. The size is w 2.5 x d 1.15 x h 2.25 m so that the EVO can be easily moved through doors. The infeed and outfeed have an additional 50 cm in depth. This means that the space required is roughly equivalent to two MVI stations.
How easily is it to relocate the EVO CAX?
The EVO CAX is equipped with castors. Therefore, it can be moved within a facility and requires minimal reinstallation effort, making it ideal for flexible production layouts.
What utilities (electricity, air, etc) is required for the EVO and are they quick disconnects/plugs or hardpiped and hardwired?
It’s very simple: You only need electricity. With its easy Plug&Play feature, the EVO can be set up anywhere with just an electrical connection.
Can I customize the EVO CAX for my production needs?
The standard version of the EVO CAX is set up to cover a wide range of applications. If you require a customized solution, you are welcome to contact us for a specific solution design.
